This policy is for SimplyAsks. Simplyxity Ltd (company number 16938823, registered office Office 16349, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, England, E6 2JA; registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under ZC083885) runs it.
SimplyAsks handles two kinds of personal data, in two different roles.
Business owners: Simplyxity is the controller
When you sign up for or use SimplyAsks as a business, Simplyxity is the controller of:
| Data | Why | Lawful basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your email address | Signing you in; alerts about your customers' questions; service messages | Contract | While your account exists |
| Your business name, website and settings | Running your assistant | Contract | Until you delete your business |
| Which terms you accepted, and when | Showing what was agreed | Legitimate interests (records) | While the account exists, and 6 years after it closes (the time in which a claim about them could be brought) |
| How much you used it (answers per month) | Plan limits and billing | Contract | While the account exists |
| Your IP address when you sign in or sign up | Stopping abuse (bot check); security records of sign-ins | Legitimate interests | Per Cloudflare's terms (bot check); 7 days in the sign-in provider's logs |
We do not sell it or use it for advertising. Who else processes it is listed on our subprocessors page.
People who use a business's chat: the business is the controller
If you chat with the assistant on a business's website, that business is the controller of your messages and any contact details you leave, and its privacy notice applies. Simplyxity processes them for the business, as its processor, under a data processing agreement. In short:
- Your messages are used to answer you, and, if the assistant cannot, to pass your question to the business.
- If you leave your name, email or phone number, they are used for the business to reply to you. You are asked to agree before they are stored.
- Card numbers and passwords the assistant recognises are removed before anything is stored.
- Chats are deleted 365 days after their last activity, or after the period the business agreed with Simplyxity.
- Your messages are sent to an AI model to draft answers. They are not used to train it.
To see, correct or delete what you said in a chat, ask the business. If you cannot reach it, contact us at privacy@simplyasks.dev and we will pass your request on.
Cookies and storage
- This website (simplyasks.dev) sets no cookies and loads no analytics. Its font is served from this site, not fetched from another.
- The chat keeps the conversation it opened in the browser tab's session storage, so a reply can reach you while you stay on the page. It is cleared when the tab is closed. Before a chat opens, Cloudflare's bot check runs in a small frame; Cloudflare may set what it needs for that check.
- The inbox (app.simplyasks.dev) sets cookies only to keep a business owner signed in.
All of these are needed for the service someone has asked for, so none asks for consent.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to or restrict its use, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Contact privacy@simplyasks.dev; our data protection contact is dpo@simplyasks.dev. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
For businesses: wording for your own privacy notice
